SMF Unibody (Integral) Frame from Duane Dwyer Custom!
Just to clarify those unfamiliar with the term, integral frame means that the whole handle/frame is milled from a single piece of titanium. There are no screws, no standoffs, no backspacer, etc. Just a solid chunk of titanium that everything that is not a knife was milled away. Aside from just being freaking cool, this of course leads to a very solid feeling knife.

This Dwyer Custom Integral Frame
- The 316 stainless steel wire clip can be reversed for left hand carry by loosening the carbide glass breaker and flipping to other side.
- The pivot rides a press fit sealed bearing on two piece titanium axle for incredibly smooth precise action
- To make it smooth on the off side if the clip is switched, Duane moved the lock bar scallop inside the frame.
- Notice the lower line which is normally straight on a SMF, now has a gently flowing curve.

The Blade: Double 3/4 hollow ground spearpoint profile in brushed/satin finish signed "Dwyer".
NOTE: Dimple in blade near Duane's signature is from hardness test. Duane has informed us he is now personally testing each blade post-heat treat.

The Frame: One solid chunk of titanium with a multi color anodized finish. The solid frame has a carbide glass breaker tip that can be unscrewed to allow the clip to flip to the other side. See that screw on the spine side of the frame? That is an adjustable blade stop for when the blade is closed so the detent engages precisely.

About Carpenter PD-1 Steel: It all started years ago with VascoWear manufactured by Teledyne Vasco which was an incredibly tough alloy. Crucible Steel then later came out with their version called Cru Wear (slightly different formula). With the advent of the powdered metal process, Crucible then applied this superior process and further tweaking the mix to create CPM 3V (which we all know and love). Fast forward to now and Carpenter Steel has gone back to the original VascoWear formula and updated it and applied their modern Micro-Melt powder metal process to it to create PD-1. Duane says PD-1 is supposed to be very comparable to the CPM 3V with the difference being the carbides. It is supposedly the same toughness and maybe a BIT better in wear resistance than 3V. Again, not a stainless, so corrosion resistance is also on par with 3V.
